"Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." Henry Beecher
Maria was born in Novi Sad, Serbia and moved to New Haven, Connecticut in 1996. She studied Graphic Design and Fine Arts at Southern Connecticut State University, and after graduating in 2001 moved to Atlanta, GA.
Maria's original, contemporary paintings include landscape, figure, floral and abstract design. Her paintings are inspired by nature, human emotions, sensibility and reminiscence and the title of each painting reflects the memory or sensible mood behind it.
Maria has found painting as her true passion and her way of enriching and coping with everyday life. Her paintings are a combination of careful planning (to make sure that all design elements work together) and artist's personal feelings, emotions and experience. "Even though I have a certain idea of what I want to paint and I plan design elements, I never know how the final painting is going to look like and that is exactly what excites me and drives me. I spontaneously choose colors, textures, materials and alternate between thick and thin layers of paint until I feel the painting is finished. My emotions, memories or certain experiences that I portray in my paintings are what brings them alive and creates a certain feeling. And this feeling is what I want to share with the viewer. I want to create an atmosphere that will possibly awaken your own memories, feelings, or experiences.""
Her work is full of passion and creativity and it brings life and energy into an empty room or space. She uses high quality materials and finish. All paintings are hand crafted mixed media paintings, gallery stretched and coated with varnish to protect painting and insure durability. Paintings are ready to be hanged on the wall upon delivery and are accompanied by certificate of authenticity. Prints of original art are also available in limited editions and printed on archival paper or canvas in different sizes.
A few of her paintings have been donated to Childkind and PADV (Partnership Against Domestic Violence) to help raise money for these organizations.
Maria has been a member of DFAA (Dunwoody Fine Art Association) since 2012, and her work has been exhibited at various exhibitions, shows, pop-up galleries and venues in Atlanta area.
